It has been a dilemma as old as time, or social media time. Should I post that photo or not? Posting a selfie is one thing, but when it comes to posting photos of your children it’s a whole new ball of wax. Will your child be upset or embarrassed by this photo a few years down the road?
Just imagine if our parents could have posted that awful middle school yearbook photo online – you know, the one they sent to all your family members via snail mail. I mean what were they thinking? You don’t want your child to be embarrassed when the photo resurfaces in a few years when they have a social media account of their own.
Would I want a stranger to see these photos on social media?
When sharing on social media, your image is out there for anyone to see, which means that people you’re not even friends with can see photos of your kids. Make sure you are sharing these photos with caution – that is, no geolocation tag included, no home address visible in the background, and nothing inappropriate or suggestive.
